Alex Milton
Alex Milton is Head of Product, Furniture and Interior design at Edinburgh College of Art. Through his designing, teaching and writing he aims to create a culture that thrives on new ideas, new ways of doing things and new areas of exploration. Recent projects include My Design, a series of playful participatory design installations exhibited at the London Design Festival, National Museum of Scotland and the Salone del Mobile, Milan.

Annabel Wright
Annabel Wright is a Glasgow based Illustrator whose clients include magazines, publishers, bands, design companies and advertising agencies. As an ex-band member of the Pastels, Annabel has designed record sleeves, posters and flyers, for The Pastels, Teenage Fanclub, Sleater-Kinney, Bill Wells Trio, International Airport and Yo La Tengo.

Beca Lipscombe
Beca Lipscombe is a printmaker and designer. Her collection of handmade/printed clothes is produced bi-annually under her own label. The ready-to-wear garments are limited in quantity and are manufactured solely in Scotland using local suppliers and labour.

Blue Marmlade
Trent Jennings and Tom Marsh are Blue Marmalade, an Edinburgh based company who create environmentally sound contemporary furniture and products. With an imaginative use of materials and clever construction techniques they create low waste products that are simple to use and eco-friendly.

Derek Welsh
Derek Welsh is a designer/maker who specialises in the manufacture of furniture for contract and domestic clients. Hand finished and produced in a variety of materials including solid wood, wood veneer, laminate and Perspex, his one off pieces, limited edition and small batch collections combine traditional skill with the use of innovative structures.

Donna Leishman
Donna Leishman is the Programme Leader in Illustration at Dundee's Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and principal of 6amhoover.com. Her imaginative screen-based worlds explore new narrative artforms using image, animation, audio and interactivity, informing a research–based practice that has produced the widely acclaimed Little Red Ridinghood (2000), The Bloody Chamber (2003) and Deviant: The Posession of Christian Shaw (2004).

Donna Wilson
Donna Wilson makes knitted creatures that are inspired by the everyday oddities and deformities of life. She likes to think of each of them as a character in her very own wonderland, where scale and perception are turned on their head. Donna creates other products including brightly coloured felt rugs, doily placemats and coasters and patterned cushions and blankets.

Graphical House
Graphical House solve communication problems across varied media with an eclectic mix of creative skills and thinking. Since starting in 2001 Graphical House have worked with a range of clients on identity, print and motion graphics, the internet, 3 dimensional design, art direction, type design and illustration. Based in Glasgow, their work remains in Scotland but much of it spreads further afield, across the UK, into Europe and the rest of the world.

Johanna Basford
Johanna’s handprinted wallpapers and interior accessories are all designed and printed from a studio in Dundee. Her designs feature tangles of imagined botanicals, butter? ies and birds which are incorporated into wallpapers, fabrics, and soft furnishings. The Response collection of wallpapers respond to their surroundings, with ? owers that blossom in the heat, butter? ies that come alive in sunlight and sinister undertones that emerge after dark.

Katy West
Katy west is a freelance ceramic designer, who works on limited edition studio ceramics and prototypes for factory production. Her practice is concerned with the re-contextualisation of existing generic objects, reinterpreting their form, and reinventing their function. Lucy MacLeod
Lucy MacLeod is an illustrator who creates unique and striking visuals for magazines, websites, fashion and haircare companies, record labels, advertising agencies, television and radio stations, newspapers, theatre and comedy. Lucy was recently commissioned by British Airways via advertising agency BBH to create artwork for a national newspaper and poster/ billboard campaign to promote their London- New York ’11 Flights a Day’.

Mandy McIntosh
Mandy McIntosh worked with KENZO in Paris for two years there before leaving to pursue a career making experimental films. Mandy makes non-fiction animation works, examining the use of aesthetics in the synthetic representation of true events. She also designs knitting patterns in response to cities and these are freely available on-line.

Marianne Anderson
Marianne Anderson’s jewellery focuses on patterns and theories of ornament. Her designs present a considered exploration of traditional ornamental forms and a refreshingly original interpretation of the decorative. Marianne pierces silhouettes of oxidised silver and systematically arranges and intersects grids of gemstones, pearls and 18ct gold, to deconstruct controlled patterns, creating bold fragmented images on an intricate scale.

Mimetics
Established by Richard Brown in 2000, Mimetics specialises in interactive projects and experiences. Recent developments include the Proximity Lighting Controller, an interactive emotive lighting system, able to reflect moods and invoke atmospheres through gesture and expression.

Nigel Peake
Architect and designer Nigel Peake creates drawings and illustrations from his studio in Edinburgh. As well as working as a design tutor at the School of Architecture at Edinburgh University, recent commissions have included designs for Ninjatunes, Habitat, Eastpak, Antiz Skateboards and Automaton Snowboards.

NORD
Glasgow based architectural practice NORD (Northern Office for Research and Design) was founded by Robin Lee and Alan Pert in July 2002. NORD work on projects across a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, domestic, retail and leisure as well as interior design and exhibition design. NORD won Young Architect of the Year award in 2006.

O Street
O Street is a new design studio based in Glasgow. Between them creative directors David and Neil have a vast range of experience on blue chip accounts gained from their work with top agencies and design groups in the UK, Japan and the US. They have worked on advertising campaigns, textile design, guerrilla marketing, motion graphics, branding, photography, typography, illustration, and animation for clients including Nike, Microsoft and Jamie Oliver.

Olanic
Glasgow based fashion designer Niki Taylor established Olanic in 2002 with a customised t-shirt range. Inspired by streetwear, her collections are driven by the idea of heightening everyday, practical styles with a glamorous, tailored edge. Recent commissions include the design of a range of shoes for footwear label ‘Schuh’. In 2006 she was shortlisted for the Young Designer of the Year at the 2006 Scottish Fashion Awards.

Pernilla Rozenberg
Pernilla graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2006 with a degree in Textiles. Her work is inspired by those parts of the human body that are not traditionally considered beautiful like hair, scars and marks, which she uses to create drawings and embroidery that inform her designs for fashion.

Sarah Tripp

Susan Kerr
Edinburgh based jewellery designer Susan Kerr creates jewellery that is unashamedly decorative, taking its influences from floral imagery and patterns found in the styles and motifs of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Timorous Beasties
Timorous Beasties design and manufacture fabrics, wallpapers and other products for interiors. Most of their work is produced from their studio in Glasgow for private clients and companies at home and abroad. Recent projects include the opening of their shop in 2004, a window display for the Wellcome Trust in London in 2005 and the release of their ? rst collection of wallpapers through Holland & Sherry across America in 2006. They were nominated for Designer of the Year by the London Design Museum in 2005.
